Why an Account Matters
Wonderthrough uses your account to keep your subscription, credits, support history, and access to your synced projects tied to you. That matters when you reinstall the desktop app, switch devices, or need help recovering access.
Your local data on the desktop app — manuscripts, entities, notes, and settings — stays on your device whether or not you have an account. An account does not keep that local data alive; the desktop app does. What an account does is make your synced data available to your other devices when you have also turned on Cloud Sync for the projects you want mirrored.
If you keep Cloud Sync off, creating an account does not automatically mean all of your writing is mirrored to Wonderthrough’s servers. Your privacy/data settings still control what syncs and what stays local to a device.
If you want more detail on what is stored where, see Privacy & Data.
